Turn-o-ver
noun : In basketball, a turnover occurs when a player loses possession to the opposing team. This can result from the ball being stolen, the player making mistakes such as stepping out or throwing the ball out of bounds, or committing a violation, such as a travel, or a committing an offensive foul.
We've all committed a turnover or been on the receiving end of one. What is a turnover in the world of dating you might ask?
A turnover is a huge mistake. Loss of focus. Change in momentum. Turnovers give life to the opposition and suck the life out of you. You want to keep your turnovers to a minimum.
Every new experience and encounter is a new opportunity to succeed. To prove who is the tougher, more prepared person. You might think love and dating is a competition-free zone but you've got it twisted.
Don't turn the ball over. Don't lose your focus. I'm no physicist but I know and trust that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. When given the opportunity to bring the ball up the court, remain calm and keep your poise. Never let them see you sweat. Just like when you're bursting at the seams to tell the new guy you're seeing how utterly enamored you are with him -- don't! ABORT MISSION. Proceed with caution. You need to remain aware and assess the situation; make sure you can see the whole court. Throwing the ball to him prematurely when you thought he was open only makes you look foolish.
Feel the game. Don't rush it. You've got the whole shot clock ahead of you. Let the game come to you. I would much rather you wait the shot clock out and give the possession your best attempt then act with haste and look like the Looney Tunes while the MonStars are cheering on the other end of the court, winning off of your turnover.
